Grief can be difficult and stressful and nearly everybody goes through it at some point in their lives, In one way or another. It can be very difficult to predict how we might react to a loss, as it is a very individual process. Grief can come in ways that you aren’t prepared for, even if you’ve always been a fairly confident person it can take you by surprise.

Sadness & Depression (Feeling Overwhelmed)
There are many forms of Sadness & Depression. It can be easy to focus on the last things that happened to a loved one prior to them passing, instead of happier memories from the past. People can sometimes feel so overwhelmed with their feelings that they can intensify their grief and feel like they cannot cope. This can lead to longer periods of crying and further signs of depression. Renie can look at ways to help you to tackle these feelings and to help you live with them over time.
Denial & Disbelief
It can be hard for a lot of people to process the sudden or long term loss of a loved one. It is common for some people to feel denial and disbelief, where their feelings are not at the forefront of their grief.
When somebody we care about dies suddenly or traumatically, there are common reactions you can feel or experience, which can be strong and frightening. Everyone experiencing a similar trauma can experience a different emotional response, meaning there is no right or wrong way to feel.
Renie can help you look your emotions surrounding your traumatic experience and offer you a specific plan to help you cope through this time.
Anger & Hostility
Anger can stem from you looking to blame someone or something for the loss of someone. It can also be an emotional response to the fact that your loved one had suddenly left when you needed them most. It is perfectly normal to feel anger, however this emotion can cause further problems for you moving forward. Renie will look at the root cause of your anger and look for ways in which to help you cope.
Some times if someone has had a long illness where you have witnessed them dying, there is a feeling of relief that they are no longer suffering. This can also leave you with a feeling of guilt, due to the fact that you feel that you should be grieving. Renie can offer you a safe space in which to explore these feelings and help you to come up with a specific coping strategy moving forward.
Some people feel numb after a loss and this can be a hard time for you and your family. It can be hard for you to reveal your true feelings for fear of upsetting further those around you. This can be a coping strategy as you are essentially putting this to the back of your mind in order to cope with what has happened. Renie can offer you a safe space to discuss how you are feeling and offer constructive ways in which to help you through this difficult time.
